Commisioner Robinson and his wife, Auta, hosted The Honorable Winnie Mandela (former wife of Nelson Mandela) where she now serves as a member of Congress in South Africa. Her last stop on a five city U.S. speaking engagement was in Douglas County during an economic development luncheon with a focus on international trade as a option for expanding business and attracting investments. In addition to her keynote, development authority leaders of Douglas County and City of Douglasville shared successful economic development stories. The luncheon, attracting over 100 people at a $50 price, was a fundraiser for Kings & Priests, a local 501(c)3 that will conduct a Teen Entrepreneurship Summer Camp, free, for residents of Douglas County this upcoming summer. Robinson's focus this year is on helping address unemployment through entrepreneurship, recognizing it takes 12 to 18 months to attract new corporations with ready made jobs.
